Everyday Democracy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening democracy at the local level. They work with communities across the United States to foster dialogue, build relationships, and create positive change. The Aicher Impact Award is given annually to an organization that embodies these values and demonstrates a commitment to empowering individuals and communities.
What This Award Means to Us
Receiving the Aicher Impact Award is a tremendous honor for San Francisco Village. It validates the hard work and dedication of our multigenerational volunteers, staff, and members. We’re committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable community for all, and this award inspires us to continue our efforts.
We’re grateful to Everyday Democracy for recognizing our work with a $5,000 grant award towards fulfilling our mission to operationalize love for elders.  Sara joined the team in 2018.  She brings with her 20 years of experience in community development, philanthropy, and organizational management.  She completed her bachelors at George Washington University and her masters at UC Berkeley.  Her career focus has been on evaluating how community groups run from year-to-year and strengthening daily processes to increase institutional success.  Sara loves travel and global development issues, particularly a non-profit she founded 10 years ago focusing on students’ access to school in Cambodia.  Sara is raising her family here in San Francisco.
